«Three years ago, I had the idea of creating this wine range. I really liked the tradition of Georgian wines. They were the first to make wine, unknowingly, 8,000 years ago. My idea was to reinvent the orange wine with more freshness, no tannin but structure and a very slight bitterness,» explains Gérard Bertrand. «Which is very interesting, because these are actually wines that have the power of a red wine and the delicacy of a white wine.»

This type of wine goes very well «with different dishes, a little spicy, but also with cheeses«.

Gérard Bertrand assures us that orange wine is becoming more widespread: «Today, there are many producers in Europe, the United States and South America. It’s a different drinking occasion.”

How do you make this very special wine? «It’s very simple: just put whole bunches of grapes in a vat. During fermentation, it develops this magnificent color. It’s an amber color with different nuances.”

Taste-wise, «it’s interesting, because it’s a very long wine on the palate. Vinification is often done in amphora. This results in wines with a lot of depth.” Gérard Bertrand is convinced: «France has a card to play with orange wine. We’re proud to be the leader in this category.»
