“NFT (“Non Fungible Token”) solutions – digital, forgery-proof certificates of ownership – are more than just a trend. They are proving to be perfectly adapted to the problems of the wine world and offer real solutions.”
Laurent David spent 20 years in the tech industry, first as head of Nokia Europe, then at Apple, where he launched the iPhone across Europe. In 2019, this Frenchman decided to settle in Saint-Émilion, not far from his hometown of Bergerac, and bought Château Edmus, a Grand Cru Classé. In 2020, he founded the Wine Tech association, which initially brought together 30 wine-related start-ups. Today, the association boasts more than 110 member companies, all thinking together about how Web 3.0 could impact the wine industry at every level. On the occasion of Wine Paris & Vinexpo Paris 2023, it has launched a white paper compiling thoughts on the impact of technology on traceability, royalties, experience, distribution and even the environment, to name but a few.
Three things you’ll learn from this podcast:
> How NFTs can optimize wine distribution and communication, and effectively combat fraud.
> How, in the near future, these technologies will considerably reduce the sector’s carbon footprint.
> Why robots should soon play a bigger role in wine tech.
